It would. We might find some if we forage, but it's always miserable trying to forage in the rain.
[ Sypha pulls her cloak tight around her to keep out the weather as much as is possible. Her attempts at a waterproofing spell have worked all right, but that doesn't keep her warm, or keep exposed parts from getting drenched, or prevent the water from streaming in. She sighs. ]
I think there's a bakery a block or two from here.
[Alucard pauses, sniffing at the air to determine what way the bakery is. There's the scent of bread in the air, and there...he has it!]
To my right, yes.
[With all of the rain, Alucard's given up on even trying to be waterproof. He has his traveling coat and wide brimmed hat to get the rain mostly off of him, and there's all of Sypha's spells, but in the end, everything just ends up wet and uncomfortable.
He turns to start walking, but that isn't before he takes Sypha's hand in his. Sure, there's no real crowd to deal with at the moment, but that's not the point. The point is holding her hand.]
[ She squeezes his hand, grinning at Alucard as they trudge down the waterlogged street. It hasn't stopped being adorable how much affection he freely gives out now that he knows it's allowed. In response, she huddles in close to his side as they walk, combining their warmth in the rainy chill. ]
I wonder if they'll have anything else at the bakery. We deserve a treat after slogging through all this.
[This is all too picturesquely domestic, isn't it? Huddled under the rain, basket of groceries on Alucard's wrist, holding hands and just making an ordinary run to the bakery. A life that they couldn't have ever had before all of this began, back in their first lives. Back when killing Dracula was the only thing that mattered, and then dealing with the war.
It's the only complicating factor in being dragged back to life.]
I don't know how much people are buying in terms of luxury bread things with the torrential downpours. Not much, I imagine.
[It isn't a far walk, the bakery, just a few minutes. A few minutes and once there, Alucard opens the door for Sypha. It gives her the freedom to inspect the wares first, and to determine what is available aside from the few remaining long, crusty baguettes that are visible, poking out of a rather tall basket.]
There might not be much demand for anything fancy, but one can hope.
[ Once they're inside, Sypha resists the urge to wring water out of the fur of her tail. There's no way to avoid dripping on the tile floor, but she can at least be courteous. As Alucard had surmised, there isn't much at all left; the selection has been picked through, but Sypha goes to ask the baker and is rewarded for her optimism. There is a fresh batch of fruit-filled hand pies coming out of the oven shortly, as well as more bread. She grins at Alucard and wags her tail lightly, laying down the coin for as much as they can carry.
While the baker packs up the loaves for them, Sypha returns to Alucard's side. ]
It will be a little while still before the pies are ready, but I'd say we have time enough to wait.
[Alucard's happy to stand off to the side and let Sypha take lead. She's far more charismatic than he can ever hope to be, and it gives him a few moments to re-catalog what supplies they do have.
But more than that, he can stand back for a few precious moments and simply watch Sypha. It's an overly sentimental thought, oh yes, but who is he to deny himself that sentiment? It makes him happy to just watch Sypha be. Exist. Charm and...
..she even returns with good news. He smiles faintly for it.]
Are we permitted to remain inside while we wait?
[As if to prove the need for the question, a roll of thunder sounds overhead, and the sound of falling rain suddenly picks up yet again.]
