[Krimnos is mostly for picking up supplies these days, then departing for home. Alucard's affection for the city has grown slightly, such as it is. Any place that encourages such dedication to technological development has earned that much, just as it has focused it's efforts on exploration and understanding. Einjar was proof of that. But he doesn't linger in the city, not when home is two days away.

Those looking for him there are most likely to find him in market spaces, or else in the part of the city dedicated to invention. He does little but observe in the latter space.

On the road between home and Krimnos, Alucard is all too keenly aware of the world around him. There is, of course, the little hamlet that marks the half-way point between home and the city, and he rests there between his trips. With warmer evenings out, he takes advantage of the one inn that boasts of a patio for evening meals, and can be found there with food remaining on his plate and a glass of probably too-dark wine in hand, barely drunk. For all the world, they look closer to props that let him settle in for a time, taking in the world around him.

Home is still a crumbling castle, whose remaining spire still reaches up towards the heavens. It is aged, save for the new lock on the door that makes it clear that this long thought cursed relic is inhabited by the living.]

[ Sypha rolls her eyes at the idea of being hovered over by Trevor and Alucard, even if only in their concern for her, and especially after her recent resurrection and all that it entails. Upon consideration, she doesn't think she actually minds it, so long as the pair of them aren't constantly breathing down her neck. Even coming from such a collective-minded group as the Speakers, Sypha has always enjoyed the option to strike out on her own when she fancied. Being a magician always afforded her that leeway, though she never strayed far. Now things have changed and she doesn't want to stray at all. Not for the moment.

Her tail swings to and fro behind her as they walk, and if it so happens to bump into Alucard's hand and twist around his open palm just a bit, what's the problem? Neither of them has recoiled from the other's touch, so it doesn't hurt. ]

I know a few methods, and we can find recipes and instructions. We might not be able to do it exactly the way she did, but we can figure something out.

[ Her hooves sink slightly into the soft, damp earth as they walk together and she runs her hand over the bark of the nearest tree. Her blue skin is dappled with sunlight. ]

Spring will come soon enough. Does the castle get very hot with warmer weather?

It's been a hundred years. If they have the science to record voices, as you suspect they might, surely they must have figured out something so simple as how to preserve fruits and vegetables.

[ Sypha looks back at him with a fond smile, her tail drawing him in a bit closer. She has no idea what she's doing, if she's being honest. The dynamics of their little trio had worked well when killing Dracula had been the objective, but what are they now? If she's being too forward, he doesn't seem to mind. ]

If magic was used to keep it cool before, I can do that now, once there's a need. Ice is simple enough to make. We could probably use it to keep food as well, now that I think on it. A cabinet lined with ice inside would help things stay fresh.

Pleasantly surprised, I hope. We've been gone an entire lifetime--you'd hope that people weren't standing still the whole time.

[ She considers his question as they walk, her hands half-forming the sigils for different spells as she does mental calculations. His nearness may be distracting, but only a bit. ]

Maybe I can find a way to suspend the ice somehow, and keep it from melting. Or perhaps it could be contained in tempered glass or crystal, and that would hold the water when it does melt. I could freeze it again every day or so.

In many different directions, I imagine, and not all of them forward.

[ There's no bitterness in her voice at that comment. Well, maybe a hint. It was people's narrow-mindedness and backwards beliefs that had caused the death of her family, and her own death as well. She can't dwell on that for too long without becoming upset, so she shifts her focus. She also sees the flowers up ahead, so that's where they go. ]

If I could discover a spell that could regulate the cabinet's temperature, the ice wouldn't be necessary. It's worth looking into.

That's better than backwards, I suppose.

[ As they take a seat, Sypha's tail delicately releases Alucard's hand so they can arrange themselves on the log. She's not quite sure what to do with herself: their actions have said quite a lot, and now she's unsure of what to say with her words, or if she should say anything. Best to continue on with the thread of their conversation than to attempt broaching deeper topics. ]

Perhaps a library in Krimnos would have more information. I could probably write a spell myself if I had enough time to tinker with it.

[ The prospect of a book that can contain many volumes worth of information is one that makes Sypha perk up. She has only recently (in her own time) come around to the idea of books in general, thanks to her escapades within the Belmont hold, but the idea fascinates her. ]

I could imagine such a book saving a great deal of space, but I must admit that there's something charming about a large collection all the same. Is it magic or science? I would love to see it. Perhaps when we visit Krimnos?
