Strange makes a slight noise of irritation at Billie's advice to keep at it. That wasn't what he wanted to hear! Granted, Strange isn't entirely sure what he wants to hear, but it's not 'just keep being terrible at it.' He's not used to being terrible at things, this sucks!
For the next five minutes, Strange practices in relative silence. All of the tosses still miss, but at least a fair number of them miss the board by a hair and aren't completely terrible throws. Strange is still focusing too much on Billie's mental notes, taking a fair amount of time to make sure he's set up properly before he throws the thing. But eventually, the dagger sticks in the target. Granted, it lands a solid three inches to the right of the 'x' that Billie drew, but it still counts. And, tired of remaining silent, Strange starts up a conversation as he goes to retrieve his projectile.
"How did you learn this skill anyway? I didn't think there would be much practicing projectiles on a ship—too high a chance to throw something in the ocean." Besides, didn't pirates just stab people? They didn't toss things or use bows and arrows, Strange knows that much.
