Strange is ready to make some quip or joke, a light-hearted remark about how he doesn't think that the scarf would mentally compel him to rob a bank or something along those lines...but then he sees Christine's serious expression and stops the joking for the while.

"I will," he says, with a nod. "Though if it does change me, it might do so without my realizing it."
